On 29 May 2026, I was pleased to present at the Housing Industry Association’s WA Housing Forum in Perth, where I spoke on “Copyright in the Age of AI”. My session focused on the way generative AI is reshaping long-standing assumptions about ownership, control and the protection of intellectual property, particularly for architects, building designers and others whose work depends on original design and content.
As AI tools become more common across the housing and construction sector, questions about authorship, infringement risk, and the protection of valuable design assets are becoming increasingly important. It was a valuable opportunity to discuss these issues with industry participants and to highlight the practical steps businesses can take to better understand and manage their intellectual property opportunities and risks.
