Thank you for your request for an initial appointment to discuss your new matter or enquiry.  We look forward to meeting with you.

We will not charge for an introductory discussion of up to 30 minutes or so.  Beyond that, we reserve the right to charge for the services of our lawyer spending time on your matter (including time spent in meetings or telephone conferrals and reading any required documents), at our lawyer’s hourly rate.  David Wilson’s hourly rate is currently $375 plus GST.  

To streamline preparation for our meeting, and to assist us to meet our professional and statutory compliance obligations, we request that you provide some information ahead of our appointment time.

Once we have had an initial discussion and we are able to better understand the scope of any work that is required (or if legal costs are likely to exceed $750 excluding GST, which is the threshold for certain costs disclosures under the Legal Profession Uniform Law), we will prepare a letter of engagement that sets out a fee estimate and/or fee proposal for that work, and which will contain costs disclosures required by the Legal Profession Uniform Law.

 

Please note that without prior arrangement, we will not review any documents that you may provide prior to our appointment. 

We may decline to proceed for the reasons set out in paragraphs 2.4 and/or 10.2 of our general engagement terms.
